Report: Michael Vick will start for Eagles against New York Giants on Sunday

Philadelphia Eagles
quarterback Michael Vick is set to make his return against the New York Giants on  Sunday.

Vick missed the past two games due to a hamstring injury, but will return to the starting lineup this weekend, according to Philly.com writer Jeff McLane. Eagles quarterback Nick Foles recently threw three touchdowns during a victory against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but was knocked out of this past Sunday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys due to a concussion.

Here is a portion of McLane’s report:

If Vick or Foles couldn't play against the Giants, (Matt) Barkley would have started.

But the Eagles don't have to worry about throwing the rookie out there. Vick will be back, even if his hamstring isn't 100 percent recovered. The team begins preparations for the Giants today and will have a light practice. Vick is slated to meet with reporters and could announce that he is starting, according to a report from Les Bowen of the Daily News.

Vick was 1-3 as a starter this season before injuring his hamstring against the New York Giants. He has thrown for 1,185 yards, five touchdowns and two interceptions this season.

Despite Philadelphia’s struggles, the Eagles are only one game behind the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC East. Vick’s team is still in playoff contention, but the quarterback will have to make more plays. Actually, staying healthy would be a drastic improvement.
